marlene burns is a
classically trained artist, receiving both her bachelor's and master's of fine
art degrees from the school of design, art and architecture at the university of
cincinnati. working as a professional artist over the years, she has taught art,
consulted and maintained a business specializing in commissioned
art.
marlene has been represented in galleries and
in private collections from new york to california.
painting has always been her
passion; her process is focused and meditative. her hallmarks are color and design.
her motto is
"learn the rules and then forget them!"
as the
founders of the abstract expressionist movement did in their time, marlene
experiments with the mediums and their mixtures. because she
paints quickly, fast drying acrylic paints, airbrush inks, molding paste and gesso best suit her
style.
NEW SERIES:
marlene is combining her love of jewish liturgy with her expressionist style to
create a series of paintings, each devoted to one specific prayer.
she
prepares herself by studying the meaning and commentary before approaching the
easel, and continues by chanting the prayer, through her
process.
marlene strongly believes that
artists need to be more than visual....they need to communicate verbally, as
well. she enjoys interaction with the public about her art. not only does it serve to balance the solitary
process of painting, it enables her to give her clients a credible and complete
visual product.
